Linear ball bearings without bearing

Linear ball bushing

Linear ball bearings or short linear bearings, commonly known as ball bushings or ball bushings, special ball bearings with an extraordinary because axial (instead radial) ball screw. The purpose of this bearing is not (as in all the other rolling bearings) the storage of a rotating element, but the low-friction guidance of translatory, d. H. Rectilinear movement of a machine element along a cylindrical shaft. The result is one of several types of special linear guide, the so-called wave guide. A distinction between fixed bearing and floating bearing as rolling bearings usual consequently is useless when linear ball bearings.

In these linear systems without stroke limitation, there is a point contact between the bearing balls of the bearing and the shaft. The permissible load of a linear ball bearing depends on the number of bearing rows of balls. Earlier Linear Bushings consisted of high carbon bearing steel, which was ground after hardening inside and out.

An outer ring but today linear bearings have several raceway plates on the outside diameter of the bearing (one per ball screw) on which roll the balls in the linear bearing. The race plates modern linear bearings are mounted in a plastic housing which also serves as a ball cage and takes over the function of the ball return. Instead of an inner ring, the balls inside run directly on a shaft of precision steel. This design has now almost completely replaced the previously common-steel construction.

Linear bearings are available both without and with single or double seal at the end faces.

When axial ball screw in linear ball bearing only the inner row of balls is always charged while the outer, balanced ball row against the bearing direction of movement by a ball return and the ball return move back to second ball return to the starting point of the load zone.

Linear ball bearings as the bearings are similar to standardized in various sizes available. Various ISO series (z. B. ISO series 1 and ISO series 3) define the exact inner and outer diameters and the lengths of these bearings.

Usually linear ball bearing sizes are defined by the internal diameter. (Nominal diameter)

Use of linear ball bearings

Linear ball bearings are used in many technical applications, such as computers and peripherals (z. B. Scanner), automatic recorders, 3D measuring devices (eg. B. Multi-spindle drilling machines and other precision machines), presses, machine tools and machining centers incl. Those doors, automatic cutting machines , printing machines, card selection machine, food packaging machines their use.

Furthermore, linear ball bearings can be used for the construction of linear stages and other shifters. So there are, for example, at the bottom under the seats of the front rows in the Chamber of the German Bundestag corresponding displacement units based on linear ball bearings, which allow sitting there deputies reciprocation in her chair.

Linear ball bearings are a type of linear technology that allows for precise linear motion. They consist of an outer and inner ring, between which balls are located that enable low-friction movement along a guide rail.

Linear ball bearings are used in many different industries, especially in automation and manufacturing technology. They are used for the precise positioning of workpieces and tools, moving materials, and transporting products.

In the logistics industry, linear ball bearings are used to control automated shelving systems, sorting and distribution systems, and conveyor belts.

Linear ball bearings are also used in medical technology, for example, for the precise movement of medical instruments during surgical procedures or for positioning patients in radiation therapy.

In the aerospace industry, linear ball bearings are used to control flaps and other aircraft components.

In electrical engineering, linear ball bearings are used in the production of motors and generators to enable precise movement of components.

Linear ball bearings are also used in the food industry, for example, to move machines for food processing or for dosing food.

In heavy industry, linear ball bearings are used to control the movement of heavy machinery and equipment.

In summary, the application of linear ball bearings is very broad and covers many different industries. Their precise guidance enables accurate movement of machine components and instruments, resulting in increased efficiency, productivity, and quality in manufacturing.
