Pre drilled shafts from Smalltec

Pre-drilled shafts with different bore-distances from Smalltec are mostly based on surface hardened and precision ground steel shafts in quality in tolerance h6, for dimensional hard chromium plated material in tolerance h7. You have the choice between the grades Cf53 (1.1213 = not corrosion resistant, but high hardness min 59 HRC), Cf53 with additional chrome layer on the surface as well as stainless steel X46Cr13 (1.4034).

Radial bored and surface hardened shafts are special types of shafts that can be used for specific applications in different materials. In the following, their properties and possible applications in the materials Cf53, X46Cr13 and X90CrMoV18 are discussed in more detail.

A radially bored shaft is a shaft that runs radially through bores.

A surface hardened shaft is a shaft whose surface layer has been hardened to make it more resistant to wear and corrosion. This type of hardening also improves the shaft's durability and strength. Surface hardened shafts are often used in applications that are subject to high loads, such as in the automotive industry or aviation.

The material Cf53 is a high-strength carbon steel that is characterised by high wear resistance. Radial-bored shafts made of this material are particularly suitable for applications where high loads and high stress on the shaft occur, such as in gearboxes or pumps.

The material X46Cr13 is a stainless steel known for its good corrosion resistance. Surface hardened shafts made of this material are suitable for applications in environments where corrosion is a problem, such as in food processing or in humid environments.

The material X90CrMoV18 is a high-strength steel known for its excellent wear resistance and high hardness. Surface hardened shafts made of this material are ideal for aerospace applications where they are exposed to high loads and temperatures.

In summary, radial bored and surface hardened shafts can be used for different applications in different materials to improve their durability, strength and wear resistance. The choice of the right material and machining technique depends on the specific application and should be carefully considered.
