Surface hardened precision shafts in X90CrMoV18 are hardened by a special process called surface hardening. In this process, only the outer layer of the workpiece is hardened, while the interior remains softer. This gives the shaft high surface hardness and wear resistance while maintaining toughness and bending strength.
